September On the Courses: Overseeding & Fall Play
September marks the start of overseeding across Tucson City Golf. While maintenance is underway, we’re still hosting events before overseed, sharing shop highlights, and providing plenty of ways to stay connected.
Friendly Reminder: Our Weekday Passes are designed for great Monday–Friday play. With Labor Day coming up, holiday rounds on that Monday, September 7th will use regular greens fees.

Good news to start the month: The tee box on Hole 6 at Randolph North is now open, giving players a refreshed start.
Overseeding Closures & Course Prep
September will bring excellent playing conditions ahead of our overseeding closures. Dell Urich, Fred Enke, and Silverbell will close September 14 through October 2. Leading up to closure, our teams will lower mowing heights and apply a high‑rate growth regulator to slow or pause bermudagrass growth while we seed into the existing turf. We contract a company to seed our fairways, which allows us to get the most time for growth until we reopen on October 3rd.

Community Swing Event September 12
Join us for a Community Swing event on Saturday, September 12th, from 8 AM to 11 AM at Randolph Golf Complex!
Community Swing is Troon’s nationwide series that brings golf, fun, and community together at municipal courses. Each event transforms the course into a lively, welcoming space with activities beyond a traditional tee time. Coming Soon: New Range Machines at Tucson City Golf
Tucson City Golf is moving forward with one of its most anticipated facility upgrades: new range machines across our courses. The first installations will begin this fall at Randolph Golf Complex and Fred Enke Golf Course, with Silverbell Golf Course and El Rio Golf Course slated for future phases. These replacements mark a major step in improving the daily golfer experience and modernizing equipment that has served the community for decades.
The Tucson Golf Program is Tucson City Golf’s player development hub. Our PGA of America Professionals help golfers of all ages learn the game, build confidence, and strengthen fundamentals. This month starts our fall programming. Learn about our programs and open registrations below! 👇
Fall PGA Jr League
This fun, team‑based league builds confidence, sportsmanship, and on‑course experience for juniors ages 4–17. Registration for our 13U and 17U divisions is open through September 30, though spots are limited. The fall season runs 8 weeks, beginning the week of October 5. Secure their spot and learn more about the upcoming season below.
Operation 36
Sessions begin the week of September 14, and registration is open! Operation 36 blends weekly group instruction, on‑course Play Days, and progress tracking through the Op36 app with our PGA-certified instructors. Golfers of all ages build skills step-by-step and move through milestones at their own pace. Register today!
PGA Hope
PGA HOPE returns this fall with a 6‑week session beginning Friday, October 18, held every Friday from 12:30–2:00 PM at Randolph Golf Complex. This national program provides free, adaptive golf instruction for veterans and active‑duty military, offering a supportive environment to learn the game, build confidence, and connect with the community. Registration opens September 18, with 20 spots available for active‑duty and military personnel.
