Your Golf Improvement Fund Update

The Mayor and Council approved the Golf Improvement Fund, which officially begins today, July 1. This $2 fee is added per round on top of the greens fee and is dedicated solely to capital improvements across Tucson City Golf.

The fund allows us to invest in course upgrades, equipment, and projects that elevate the golfer experience. We’ll keep you updated as progress continues, and we’ll post new information regularly on our website. Visit the Golf Improvement Fund page 👉  tucsoncitygolf.com/golf-improvement-fund

Our June aeration was a success, and the greens are settling in as we move into peak summer. July brings natural changes in how bermudagrass looks and responds, but our teams are working daily to keep surfaces smooth, firm, and consistent. The good news? We’ve already had a few early monsoon rains, which give the turf a welcome boost.

The Tucson Golf Program is Tucson City Golf’s player development hub. Our PGA of America Professionals help golfers of all ages learn the game, build confidence, and strengthen fundamentals. This month also brings a new way to connect with the Tucson Golf Program community. Coach Alex will lead a Sip N Chip clinic, a relaxed blend of short‑game practice and social time. More details about this event will be shared soon!

Fall PGA Jr League

Registration is open for our PGA Jr. League! This league is a fun, team-based program for ages 4–17 that runs August through December. Your junior golfer will learn the game, build confidence and sportsmanship, and compete in friendly matches under the guidance of our PGA Professional coaching staff. Learn more and secure their spot today!

Operation 36 — Open for Adults and Juniors

Operation 36 blends weekly group instruction, on‑course Play Days, and progress tracking through the Op36 app with our PGA-certified instructors. Golfers build skills step‑by‑step and move through milestones at their own pace. Since 2022, 463 golfers have passed Level 1. Registration is open!

A Closer Look at What’s Cooking. . .

This month’s standout bite is the Jalapeño Bacon Burger at the 1925 Bar & Grill. This bold, spicy, savory stack is a Randolph favorite.

This burger brings the perfect mix of heat, crunch, and melt. It starts with a juicy ¼‑lb patty topped with melted pepper jack and house‑made jalapeño bacon for a smoky kick. Pickled red onion adds bright tang, and roasted garlic mayo ties everything together. All of it sits on a soft potato bun that lets the flavor shine.

June 2026 Newsletter

June 1, 2026 by jcotton

June Means Sunshine, Savings & Summer Golf

June is here, and Tucson golfers are stepping into one of the best stretches of the year — mild mornings, warm afternoons, and the start of our discounted summer rates across all five courses. Whether you’re chasing early tee times, sharpening your game, or enjoying a slower summer pace, June is the perfect month to get out and play.

What’s Happening on the Courses ⛳

  • June 2 – 30 | Tucson Golf Program’s Practice Club
  • June 2 Aerification Closure | Dell Urich
  • June 4 Aerification Closure | Silverbell
  • June 9 Aerification Closure | El Rio
  • June 11 Aerification Closure | Randolph North
  • June 13 Callaway Fitting | El Rio
  • June 16 Aerification Closure | Fred Enke

👉  Keep an eye on your emails or follow us on socials for full event details!

Aeration season is here, and it’s one of the most important maintenance practices we do to keep our courses healthy and playing their best.

Aeration clears harmful gases from the soil and improves air flow, which strengthens turf health and playability. It also relieves compaction, improves water movement, and supports stronger root systems — all essential for keeping greens smooth, firm, and consistent as Tucson heads into its hottest stretch. Because this work requires recovery time, each course will close briefly for one day during its scheduled date in June.

As a thank‑you for your patience, golfers will receive a $5 discount on greens fees for one week following aeration at each course. The discount is applied at check‑in.

👔 Give The Gift of Golf 👔

Father’s Day is almost here, and there’s no better way to celebrate the dads who love the game. Whether he’s chasing early tee times, eyeing new gear, or planning a lesson to sharpen his swing, a Tucson City Golf gift card lets him enjoy the day exactly how he wants. Pick one up at any of our golf shops and have Dad set for June 21.

Back-9 To 5’ers Breakfast at Randolph Golf Complex

Back‑9 Breakfast at Randolph is our new 9-and-dine special for early risers who want to get a quick 9 holes in with a fast, fresh bite before the day kicks in. Beginning on Friday, June 5th, and available on Wednesday and Friday mornings throughout the summer, during the same window as our 6:15–7:05 AM Back-9 tee times.

For $34 + tax for City Card holders and $40 + tax for non‑City Card holders, you can get 9 holes riding with any of the above choices.

El Rio’s June Special

Every Monday & Tuesday in June, El Rio is serving up a simple, summer-friendly duo of $5 Margaritas and $5 Chimis or Taquitos. This is a perfect post-round combo for warm Tucson afternoons.

Silverbell’s June Special

Silverbell is stretching happy hour a little longer this month — enjoy your favorites from 1 PM to 4 PM all June long. More time, more sunshine, more reasons to stop in.

June brings a fresh round of savings across our golf shops, with courses offering their own month‑long deals. Explore what’s happening at Fred Enke, Silverbell, and El Rio below. 👇

May 2026 Newsletter

May 1, 2026 by jcotton

May is here, and it’s shaping up to be a great month on the course. Warmer days, longer evenings, and steady spring conditions make it an ideal time to get out on our courses and take in everything happening across Tucson City Golf.

What’s Happening on the Courses ⛳

  • May 1 2026 Mega Pass Drop
  • May 1 LOL After-Hours Comedy Night | El Rio
  • May 5 Cinco De Mayo $5 Day Deal | El Rio
  • May 7 Golf Improvement Fund Open House | Randolph
  • May 27 Titleist Fitting Day | Randolph
    • To reserve a spot, email Landyn at llewis@tucsoncitygolf.com

👉  Keep an eye on your emails or follow us on socials for full event details!

At El Rio, you’ll notice a few fresh touches on the course this month. New tee markers are incoming, and the nines have been flipped back to their original layout, which is a change many longtime players will appreciate right away.

Across all courses, our agronomy teams are dialing in conditions for the summer season. We’ve lowered mowing heights on fairways, tees, and surrounds to support the transition from winter ryegrass to warm‑season bermudagrass. As temperatures rise, you’ll see a gradual shift in color and texture as the bermudagrass takes over. Weekly fertilizer applications will help promote healthy growth and smoother playing surfaces as we move deeper into May.

Golf Improvement Fund: Proposal & Open House

Following a vote during the Mayor and Council meeting on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the City of Tucson has issued a notice of intent (NOI) for proposed rate and fee changes for the Parks and Recreation department, as required by Arizona Revised Statutes § 9-499.15. One of the proposed fee changes would affect golf. An open house will be held on Thursday, May 7, 4-6 p.m., at the Randolph Dell Urich Golf Course (Copper Room) for anyone who would like to discuss the proposed fee.

Proposed to take effect July 1, 2026: $2 per round of golf on top of greens fee, to be used for capital improvements at Tucson City Golf courses.

Other public meetings for all proposed fees are being held throughout the city. You are encouraged to attend the public meetings and submit comments on the proposal using the online comment portal. For more information, visit the Tucson Parks and Recreation website at 👉 tucsonparks.info/parksandrecrfeechanges.

April kicks off with PGA HOPE – Tucson’s spring graduation on Friday, April 3, featuring a 9‑hole scramble at Randolph North. Representatives from Mayor Regina Romero’s office and U.S. Representative Adelita Grijalva’s office will join to recognize the program’s impact. We’re proud to see the Tucson Golf Program celebrated for their hard work as they continue spreading the love of golf throughout our community.

Our teams are beginning spring conditioning work across the courses, including vertical mowing and topdressing greens. These practices thin out the remaining winter grass and encourage healthy bermudagrass growth as temperatures rise. The sand topdressing that follows helps create a smoother, firmer surface. This work will continue periodically until overseed starts in the fall.

April brings great weather and even better post‑round moments. Stop by one of our course restaurants for happy hour and enjoy favorites like discounted beer on tap, pork taquitos, wings, Arizona cheese crisp, and tater tots. Each course has its own lineup. Here’s a closer look at the 1925 Bar & Grill at Randolph Golf Complex:

All Tucson City Golf shops are offering 30% off all in‑stock golf bags this month. It’s the perfect time to upgrade your setup for spring. Inventory varies by course, so stop by your favorite shop to see what’s available.

Major‑season vibes are also here, and every Tucson City Golf shop has the limited‑edition Callaway Chrome Tour April Major balls. El Rio is also carrying a fresh drop of Bad Birdie apparel, including new shirts, hats, and major‑inspired pieces that are ready for spring golf. Swing by and check out the lineup while it lasts!

Investing in Better Greens

Solid needle tining will occur on greens and collars over the coming weeks. This light maintenance improves airflow and soil absorption, promoting healthier turf. For golfers that means smoother, more consistent greens with little to no impact on play.

Pro Shop Sales are Back

For the month of February, stop by the Silverbell Pro Shop and receive a free dozen Callaway Chrome Soft X golf balls with the purchase of select golf bags, while supplies last. New arrivals from FootJoy, Bad Birdie, and more are now in stock. Perfect for Valentine’s Day gifts or treating yourself.

Happy Hour Specials are Here!

Savor the season with our new winter menus and course specific Happy Hour specials across all our locations.

At Fred Enke, enjoy weekday Happy Hour from 2–5 PM with drink specials and appetizer favorites starting at $4. Visit your course for full Happy Hour details! 👇

The Tucson Golf Program is gearing up for an exciting 2026 spring season with programs designed to grow the game and give back to the Tucson community. Registration is open for golfers interested in any of the following:

  • PGA Jr. League returns March through May, offering young golfers a fun, team-based way to learn and play.
  • PGA HOPE Tucson begins February 27 at Randolph Golf Complex, providing adaptive golf instruction for veterans and active military members to support physical, mental, and social well-being.
  • Operation 36 sessions are underway. This program offers structured group coaching with weekly instruction, on-course Play Days, and progress tracking through the Operation 36 mobile app. This helps golfers develop skills and advance through measurable milestones.
